About Costa Bridge

A British-Spanish family helping other families make the move to Spain.

Costa Bridge is run by us — Shane and Yolanda. We know what it feels like to belong in both places, and sometimes to feel caught between them.

Yolanda is Spanish, from Bilbao. Shane is English, from Yorkshire. We met in England 24 years ago and have been married for nearly 20.

Our life has always been split between two countries, two cultures, two languages and two ways of doing things.

In 2007, we moved from the UK to Bilbao. We built a life there, learned how the Spanish systems worked from the inside, and in 2009 our triplets — Daniela, Liam and Sara — were born.

In 2014, we moved back to the UK, mainly for work. Since then, like many British-Spanish families, we have had to navigate life after Brexit — changing residency rules, paperwork, permissions, uncertainty and the practical reality of keeping a family connected to both countries.

Now our children are nearly 17, have left school, and we are preparing for the next chapter: spending more of our time in Spain, especially around Peñíscola, Terres de l'Ebre and the Costa Azahar.

That is where Costa Bridge comes from.

“We know what it feels like to belong in both places — and sometimes to feel caught between them.”

A little background

  • Shane — English, from Yorkshire
  • Yolanda — Spanish, from Bilbao

We have lived the journey in both directions

We have dealt with the UK-to-Spain move ourselves. We have also dealt with the Spain-to-UK side after Brexit.

We understand the excitement of wanting a new life in Spain, but we also understand the doubt that comes with it — the forms, the appointments, the language, the official offices, the changing rules, the fear of missing something important, and the feeling that everyone seems to give you a slightly different answer.

Costa Bridge was created to make that journey feel calmer, clearer and more achievable.

We are not here to make Spain sound like a fantasy. Spain is a real country, with real systems, real rules and real practicalities. But with the right support, the move does not need to feel overwhelming.

Our aim is simple: to help British nationals who want to build a life in Spain find the path of least resistance.

Practical help, local understanding and family experience

What makes us different is the combination of both sides.

Shane

Shane understands the British side of the move — the doubts, the paperwork anxiety, the post-Brexit confusion, and the practical questions British families ask before taking the leap. He can explain Spanish admin in plain English without either alarm or false reassurance.

Yolanda

Yolanda brings the Spanish side — native language, cultural understanding, local knowledge and the ability to deal with people, processes and everyday problems in Spain without things getting lost in translation.

Together, we offer practical correspondence-first relocation preparation for people who want to move to Spain with more confidence and less confusion. That means written guidance, document organisation, admin planning, area research and connecting you with the right professional help when specialist legal, tax or immigration advice is needed.

Where we are and what we know

We live full-time in the UK. Our children have just left school, and we are at the stage of life where spending more time in Spain is becoming possible — particularly around Peñíscola and the Costa Azahar where we are now.

For now, Costa Bridge is a correspondence-first relocation preparation service. That means we help you plan your move through written guidance, structured reports and email — not by being physically present for every appointment.

We do not have physical offices in Spain, nor do we claim to have local teams on the ground. What we do have is careful research, personal experience moving between the UK and Spain, and a commitment to honest, source-led guidance.

Our deepest research has been in the eastern costas — Costa Dorada, Terres de l'Ebre and Costa Azahar — and we know those areas well from time spent there. But our service is available to anyone planning a move to Spain, regardless of which coast you choose.

We believe preparation matters more than proximity. A clear plan, the right documents and knowing what to expect will do more for your move than someone standing next to you in an appointment.

The most popular British relocation areas

Costa Blanca (Alicante province)

The most popular British relocation destination in Spain. Established communities, extensive services and active property market. We offer remote relocation planning support for moves to this area.

Costa del Sol (Málaga province)

Classic British relocation coast — Marbella, Málaga, Nerja. Very high British presence, premium options, well-developed infrastructure. Remote preparation support available.

Costa Cálida / Murcia

Growing British destination with good value property and a warm climate. Popular with retirees and second-home owners.

Our deepest personal research is in the eastern costas — Costa Azahar, Terres de l'Ebre and Costa Dorada. We know those areas through time spent there, but we do not claim local coverage in any specific town. See all areas →

Property care and keyholding — not currently offered

We understand that many people moving to Spain want someone to check on their property, manage keys or coordinate local tradespeople. That kind of physical, local support is something we would like to build into the business over time.

It is not available now. We do not have the physical coverage, the local network or the operational capacity to offer property care reliably and safely. We are focusing on what we can do well today: written relocation preparation, document guidance and honest area research. If and when we do offer property care, it will only be in an area where we are physically present for enough of the year to do the job properly.

A family business

Costa Bridge is a family business in the truest sense. Our children have grown up between Britain and Spain, and they will also be part of the business as it develops.

For us, this is not just about helping other people move. It is about building a future for our own family too.

We are not trying to be a faceless relocation company. We are building something personal, useful and trustworthy — the kind of support we would have valued ourselves when we were trying to work everything out.

What we are not

We think being clear about this is more useful than vague reassurance.

  • We are not immigration lawyers or legal advisers.
  • We are not tax advisers or accountants.
  • We are not a letting agency or rental management company.
  • We are not a national franchise using local subcontractors we have never met.
  • We are not a conveyancing firm — we do not handle property transactions.
  • We do not claim to provide services that require professional regulation.

You do not have to figure it all out alone.

Moving country affects your work, your family, your home, your confidence and your sense of belonging. Costa Bridge exists to help you cross that gap between wanting a life in Spain and actually making it happen. If you are British and thinking seriously about moving to Spain, we can help you understand the road ahead, avoid unnecessary stress, and take the next step with more confidence.
