Areas

Alcossebre

A cove-and-beach resort village on the Costa Azahar, backed by the Serra d'Irta and quieter than its famous neighbour, Peñíscola.

Alcossebre is a seaside village within the municipality of Alcalà de Xivert, nestled between the Serra d'Irta mountain range and the Mediterranean. Despite having only around 2,000 year-round residents, it spreads across ten kilometres of coastline with five main beaches and several unspoilt coves.

The village is noticeably less developed than most Costa Azahar resorts — high-rise blocks are largely absent, and much of the coastline is backed by protected natural parkland. Four of its beaches hold Blue Flag status for water quality.

For British relocation planners, Alcossebre offers a genuine get-away-from-it-all environment, but that isolation comes with trade-offs. There is no railway, limited year-round services, and the social scene is quiet outside July and August. It suits those prioritising nature, tranquillity and low property prices over convenience.
