Moraira

A small, exclusive resort town with a historic castle tower, Blue Flag beaches and the highest property prices in Alicante province.

Moraira is a small coastal town on the Costa Blanca that punches well above its weight. Despite a population of only around 10,000, it has the highest property prices in Alicante province — a testament to its exclusivity and appeal among affluent buyers.

The town centres on its historic Cap d'Or watchtower, a 16th-century pirate lookout that still dominates the skyline. Below it, three Blue Flag beaches curve around a bay flanked by restaurants, boutiques and a small marina. The atmosphere is refined but not flashy — more understated elegance than Marbella glamour.

For British relocation planners, Moraira is distinctive because it offers the Costa Blanca lifestyle at its most premium. The town has retained its Spanish character despite heavy foreign ownership, and the dining scene is exceptional — this is arroz country, and the local seafood rice dishes rival anything in Valencia.
