Areas
Vera
An inland commercial centre with a famous naturist beach resort and golf community — modern, purpose-built and popular with northern European buyers.
Vera is a municipality of two distinct characters: the historic inland town (Vera itself), which sits on a plateau and serves as a local commercial hub, and Vera Playa, a modern coastal development that has become famous across Europe for its long, open beach and internationally recognised naturist zone.
The town has grown significantly in the past two decades, with the population rising from under 7,000 in 1999 to over 20,000 today. This growth has been driven by tourism, golf resort development (Valle del Este) and northern European property buyers — British, German and Scandinavian purchasers are all well represented.
For British relocation planners, Vera offers a more modern, purpose-built environment than the historic charm of Mojácar. The golf urbanisations provide gated-community living, the beach is expansive, and the commercial infrastructure is solid. Those seeking traditional Spanish town life should look at Vera town itself rather than the playa.
